About

Books are full of fluff to fill the pages. Summary sites are riddled with annoying links and distracting ads.

Fuck that.

The Fourteen Forty Project was created for you to learn from bright and accomplished authors. Named after the 1440 minutes we have in a day, this project is dedicated to helping you make the most of your time by offering concise yet comprehensive key takeaways from books that will offer diverse ideas and actionable insights to your life.

I probably don’t need to sell you on the importance of reading, but in case you need some convincing, consider this quote from Walt Disney:

“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.”

My approach for every post is structured to answer the following questions:

1. What is the overall message of the book?

This is a quick synopsis

2. How does the author’s argument unfold?

What are the main principles and supporting evidence?

3. Is the author’s argument valid?

Provide evidence to support my opinions

4. What now?

How can I act on the ideas from the book?

What’s in it for me? Like you, I just want to improve myself and learn as much as I can. And by writing summaries, I get to improve my learning retention, sharpen my writing skills in the process, and keep myself accountable to read consistently.  So join me on this journey of self-improvement and grow together.

Thank you for visiting The Fourteen Forty. Here’s to making every minute count.
